The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has defined standards to promote sustainable fisheries: guidelines that fishermen and supply chain parties must meet in order to bear the MSC label. These standards enable assessments of fisheries and supply chain parties for sustainability and proper management.

In 1999, the MSC developed its traceability standard, known as the Chain of Custody Standard, to combat fish fraud. The purpose of the MSC Traceability Standard is to prevent mixing certified fish with non-certified fish. It assures consumers that the MSC-labelled fish, shellfish, and crustacean products they purchase are legally sourced from sustainably managed sources, not mixed with non-certified products, and traceable throughout the supply chain, from the ocean to the plate.

Our fish auctions comply with the MSC Traceability Standard. The MSC certificates are available for download below..
